When did we last hear of elections for a president of a nation wherein we only had one candidate and he, quite predictably, was the present incumbent? Who is Robert Mugabe trying to fool? He has forced the entire opposition into submission. He has, off course, emerged victorious after this farce and now he claims [...]

They say that the monsoon will arrive earlier this year. After this hot and sultry weather a cool shower of rains is always welcome. You enjoy the fresh smells of the soil, pitter-patter on your window panes, hot savories and tea, few soaks in the rain with your kids. It’s amazing how [...]

At times I feel guys can never understand what all a woman goes through when she’s pregnant. My husband, Manish is otherwise a decent bloke but sometimes it appears that he forgets that I’m pregnant. You know, while working on his computer or while watching TV he just calls me at times to do his [...]

We have to grant this man his due. With very little political experience and being an African American, many gave him just an outside chance of securing the democratic nomination. Not only has he secured the nomination but according to some newspapers he may actually become the President.
Coming from a broken home, he graduated from [...]

Congress is digging its own grave. Things have started becoming unmanageable even for middle and lower middle class people, not to speak of the poorer sections. With inflation at 11% things will only become worse from now on. But it appears that Congress has got their priorities and policies all mixed up. What I mean [...]

My in laws had come home a couple of days back to look me up. They would be staying over for next few days. My mother in law is a classical dance teacher. My daughter Mansie is quite enthusiastic about learning dance from her but since we live quite a distance apart she is not [...]

Reservations based on castes surely is not the ideal way of uplifting any community or caste. But, if some castes/communities are given this privilege, then any/all deserving castes/communities be given similar opportunities. Especially, if you consider the fact that Jats and Gujjars are both OBCs. I mean, we all know for a fact that Jats [...]

I guess everyone wants to blog these days. Starting from Amir to Amitabh to Lalu. I happened to read Amitabh’s blog. Well, what I can say is that I’m not impressed. Maybe there are people who would like to know what he eats, drinks, how he escapes from media, his personal lifestyle or even his [...]

McCain’s campaign managers are targetting Michelle Obama, now that they realise that Obama would be hard nut to crack and this maybe the only way to pull him down. But in my view this is downright cheap and unethical. And given the fact that McCain is an ex soldier makes it all the more improper. [...]

I’m down to my third trimester, the so called homing months. Well, everybody keeps telling me that now time will fly and within no time I’ll be holding my baby. But, seriously they just can’t imagine what these months are like. I’m uncomfortable in any position and can barely sleep. The number of visits [...]

I really wonder on what grounds are Lalus and Mulayams protesting against the Women's Bill. Their argument, is unconvincing and shaky. Even ideally, if for a moment, we think that poor Dalit women were to be indeed elected I'd damned if our highest governing bodies were to be made up of women who are absolutely illiterate and work as maids or do some such menial jobs. I really do not have anything against them but they do not have the aptitude or ability for this job, not as of now at least. As for my maid, I'm thankful to God if she completes my household chores satisfactorily, leave aside managing the country. .....
