It’s quite clear from this video that these pirates are a menace. Just about a couple of months ago they hijacked a Japanese ship Stolt Valor which was eventually freed last week after payment of ransom. The Indian naval vessels were deployed only after this incident. Although due credit must be given to Indian govt for this yet it is quite clear that this is not enough.

I guess kids these days are more social and aware than we were at their age. In comparison my childhood was way too simple and uncomplicated.

LK Advani has finally spoken on the issue of Sadhvi Pragya Thakur and a whole lot of other Hindu leaders being involved in the terror attacks in Malegaon and possibly some others as well. Quite predictably he has skirted the entire issue by focusing on something else entirely.

Boring, stupid and hardly any action. This was the first time I went to watch a movie without waiting for the reviews and I regretted it. I had seen Casino Royale and was quite impressed with the way Daniel Craig portrayed James Bond. I was quite sure that this time too Daniel Craig would rock as James Bond. I was wrong.

To be fair to Advani we did hear from him initially a day or so after Pragya Thakur was arrested. He said that terrorism in any form has to be condemned. That was surely the correct thing to say, at that time. But things have changed ever since. Initially it seemed that it was just the Sadhvi and her faithfuls who have indulged in this dastardly act but now it is amply clear that there are many Hindu fundamentalists involved in this whole thing.

It’s out in the open now. I always doubted the methods of the political parties by which they selected their candidates for elections but now I know for sure. There is no system in place, at least in the Congress Party, to screen the eligible aspirants to decide on whom to field and whom not to field. It seems the entire procedure is quite arbitrary and the allocation of tickets is done on the whims and fancies of particular people.

There is a new cricket world order in place now. ICC may not agree with this but there definitely is a new world order in cricket. And India is at the top of this new order. ICC may say that Australia is still Number 1 and we are only in the second place but anyone who has followed the rivalry between these two will agree that we are much better than the Australians.

I have half a mind of giving out the name of this school but Mansie is still studying there and it would be pretty unfair to her. So I’ll refrain myself from doing that, at least till this session gets over in March09 when I plan to shift Mansie to another good school. I know it’ll involve a whole lot of running around all over again. But there’s no option.

Its one of the saddest days of my life. The revelation of some serving and retired Indian Army officers being involved in the Malegaon blasts has left me absolutely bewildered and sad. I find it so difficult to believe. This is something which will take some time to get over completely, if at all. Why would someone in uniform do something like this? What can we do to ensure that something like this does not happen again?

After all the euphoria dies down following Barack Obama’s election as the President of USA it is actually time for each one of us to try and understand the implications of this historic event. First things first. In the immediate future there is only one thing which will dominate the proceedings

I really wonder on what grounds are Lalus and Mulayams protesting against the Women's Bill. Their argument, is unconvincing and shaky. Even ideally, if for a moment, we think that poor Dalit women were to be indeed elected I'd damned if our highest governing bodies were to be made up of women who are absolutely illiterate and work as maids or do some such menial jobs. I really do not have anything against them but they do not have the aptitude or ability for this job, not as of now at least. As for my maid, I'm thankful to God if she completes my household chores satisfactorily, leave aside managing the country. .....
