Advani speaks Rajnath Singh’s language, as expected
November 18th, 2008LK Advani has finally spoken on the issue of Sadhvi Pragya Thakur and a whole lot of other Hindu leaders being involved in the terror attacks in Malegaon and possibly some others as well. Quite predictably he has skirted the entire issue by focusing on something else entirely. He said that the Congress was calling them ‘Hindu Terrorists’. He added that there was nothing called Hindu terror or Muslim terror or even Sikh terror for that matter. But, he said, Congress was doing this to garner votes. He also said that Congress was trying to give a communal pitch to the whole issue.
He sure has a point there though. The Congress has in fact, labeled this as ‘Hindu Terror’. Their only aim is to discredit/credit the Sangh Pariwar by saying that these people have indulged in terrorist activities as well. This, you all would agree, is with the ultimate aim of getting more votes in the coming assembly elections and as well as the general elections. Not just this there seems to be an attempt by the Congress and PDP to make insinuations even against Lt Gen(retd) SK Sinha, who was the governor of J&K. So there is no denying the fact that Mr LK Advani is right in a way. But he has missed the bigger picture in the sense that he has not condemned the blasts, whoever might be involved in them.
Well frankly speaking, he is not above party politics. He has no option but to fight the Congress. He has to toe the party’s line even though he may not agree with it completely. This was all the more dificult since Rajnath Singh and Bal Thakeray had already extended support to the accused persons. We understand his predicament. Sadly, I don’t agree with him completely on this issue. In my opinion, the blasts have to be condemned and the guilty punished, even if they are from the Sangh Pariwar. I, at least, expected him to do this.
