Bhictary of people
November 12th, 2009
Red is fast getting out of fashion. If you don’t believe me ask CPM or whatever is LEFT of it. The writing on the wall of Writer’s Building is rather clear and unambiguous. Left has to go in 2011. If you believe Mamata Bannerjee “It is bhictary for the peepul, by the peepul and for the peepul“. Yeah, it was all that and more. But I was kind of hoping Mamata would use some different words. Anyways, this bhictary has once again reinforced our belief that Left has indeed failed both, the state as well as it’s peepul. The death of so many innocent peepuls in Lalgarh and Nandigram are a stark reminder of this ghrim reality.
As is customary after any defeat the Left leaders have said that they respect people’s verdict (As if they have any other choice) and they would analyse the results as to where they’ve gone wrong. What crap! Time for all the analysis is long over. If they still want an analysis here it is- You can’t undo your past and your past has been soaked in blood of so many innocent people that now your future is being written with the same ink. It says- You have to go. If you could not change things in the state in the last so many years it is impossible for you to do so now in this short period of time unless you go about distributing hard cash to voters, who may still not vote for you even after taking your money.
So here’s next best option. They can go in elections now itself and start ridiculing Mamata Bannerjee after she comes to power in the state. That way their ridicule will have some more weight. As of now all their talk of Mamata being the cause of all their ills is not very convincing. Even their own ministers in the state are now saying the same thing. And they may just be right because the alternative available to West Bengal is indeed not very awe inspiring. I mean, Mamata Bannerjee’s administrative acumen is not something she’s known for. Off course, her efficiency or the lack of it is yet to be corroborated by the Railway Ministry as she’s been in the saddle for a very short while. Also, she is quite likely using the Railways as a learning on the job exercise for a much bigger task in future. Mind you, she can only get better with time. So before she gets more adept at these things and learns the tricks of the trade let her come to power in West Bengal at the earliest and then make mistakes which they could then use to ridicule her. Wait a minute. Am I being ridiculous here? May be or may be not. You never know it may just be correct.
And leftists better thank me for this free advice because personally I’m not exactly their biggest fan. In fact I have some very important issues against them. For one, they seem to be so obsessed with China that they never ever speak out against them. Even in the current face off between us and the Chinese they have not spoken a word which implies their tacit support to whatever the Chinese do. So who exactly are they supporting? Chinese or us? I guess they need to sit down and analyse this instead of trying to analyse their current and impending election disasters.
For another, while they idolize China they have not really learnt what is indeed worth learning from them. If anything these are two glaring examples of how to use economic policies for development of society in case of China and in case of West Bengal how not to use these policies. And no I don’t buy this argument that they can only work within the framework laid down by the central govt. If states like Gujarat, Punjab and even Bihar can make good progress within that framework so can West Bengal. The problem has not been of policies but of implementation of these policies. Sitaram Yechury in particular has been very vocal in his articles in Hindustan Times about the wrongs of Congress and BJP but when it comes to West Bengal his own party has failed on those very counts. Double speak- Wouldn’t you say?
As for this bhictary, I guess it is Congress which will benefit in the long run not just in assembly elections but even in parliamentary polls. The peepuls may just see that both Left and TMC cannot deliver and therefore may move towards Congress. Congress on it’s part will most likely continue their association with Mamata for some more time till they see Bengalis getting disenchanted with her.
Lastly, no offence meant to anyone for misuse of English. I’m only pulling Mamata didi’s leg. She’ll undherstand, I hope so.

The naxals must be finished before 2011 in W.Bengal. Otherwise after Mamata comes to power the CPM and naxals will join hands and it may become a defeat for the people.
