Dolly Bindra for Congress?

November 4th, 2010

Dolly Bindra

Dolly Bindra

If there is one person whom I’d love to join Congress it’s Dolly Bindra of Bigg Boss4 because she is the one who can speak against the captain of the house. In fact she only speaks against the captain. And there is no one in the Congress today who can speak against their captain, Sonia Gandhi. What to talk of speaking against the captain, no one in the Congress today has the gumption to even speak about relevant issues which are undermining the status of the party as a major coalition partner in the govt at the center. If there is one issue apart from price rise which has the potential to blow in it’s face in the next elections it is the rampant corruption on the part of individuals within Congress as well as those in it’s coalition parties. Congress needs to realize that if they do not handle this monster head on they’ll pay for it dearly, not just in 2014 but even in assembly elections of more than ten states which are due in this period.

When I saw Rahul Gandhi come out to make an unplanned speech in the AICC session I presumed that he was doing so to point out the recent corruption cases in CWG (check out my previous post CWG: Just get it over with) and Adarsh society (check out my post Who is Adarsh?) because none of the previous three speakers Sonia, Manmohan SIngh and Pranab Mukherjee had done so. Sadly, that was not the case. He said something like working for the poor and blah blah blah. How I hoped Congress would’ve had the courage to confront the burning issues of the day but my hopes along with those of millions of other Indians were dashed, once again.

Congress may say that Shunglu committee is looking into allegations of corruption in CWG but the fact is that this committee is without any teeth. It has to include CVC, CAG and CBI for it’s probe and even after that it can only recommend action against the guilty, if any. And since CVC, CAG and CBI are all arms of the govt you can make your own guesses as to what will come out of this probe and who will get punished. Similarly, a probe by Pranab Mukherjee and AK Antony of the Congress party into Adarsh Society scam where most of the allegations are against members of Congress only, will at best be, in my opinion, a face saving exercise, at the end of which we may see Chavan being removed from CM’s chair or some other  action where the real culprits will still get away. To expect Ashok Chavan or Vilasrao Deshmukh or even Suresh Prabhu to be put behind bars over a measly sum of a few crores is ridiculous to even comprehend.

If you look at the way Sonia Gandhi spoke, you could clearly see that she was trying to create a monster by demonising the saffron groups. What a sad state of affairs!!! Instead of taking on the monster of corruption which is actually right in front of us and is eating away into our national and personal resources she chose to dismiss it completely as if it was a non issue, for her and the nation, but create another one instead.

And people, please do not forget the spectrum scam, fodder scam, stamp paper scam, Mayawati’s Taj corridor and unaccountable assets scams and many others which have just been brushed under the carpet by Congress, the accused of most of which are sitting pretty in their powerful seats even today, like A Raja and Mayawati. It is a forgone conclusion that like in many such cases we will not see any action against the high and mighty.

Be that as it may, a national party of the stature of Congress is expected to at least talk about such core issues when they have a meeting of it’s members like the AICC meeting. I mean, they do not even put up a facade of being an honest party who wants to weed out corruption. How I wish Dolly Bindra was in that meet to tell them point blank in their faces that they were all wrong without caring two hoots for who thinks what.

We Indians are class 1 donkeys who deserve what is playing out in front of eyes.

We are corrupt to the core, not willing to change, sermons we will deliver. Practice the exact opposite, those who swear by honesty are the ones who did not have the opportunity to practice this art.

Honest Indian is not by choice rather by lack of opportunity.

Congress remains silent on this subject because it is confident that it will locate that magical Bar of Soap with BJP imprinted, which will enable it to wash away all it sins.

Let us wait for the media to uncover just that.

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see that such large outpourings of support for Anna Hazare is basically a demand for a phone number, viz 101, which they can call up to register their complaint against neighborhood pandu havaldaar or the municipality clerk who ask for money to do their legitimate jobs. They want a number which is accessible to each and every one so that action is taken against offenders based on their complaint. Though everyone has heard of 2G scam, CWG scam, Adarsh scam etc etc (list is too long for this write up), yet they do not really associate much with it because most of these scams talk about astronomical amounts of money which they cannot relate with. They may have heard of 1.76 lakh crores which was lost in 2G scam but they relate more to that thousand bucks which goes out of their own pockets to corrupt babus and policemen. And if Congress cannot see this basic simple all pervasive demand all I can say is that they're downright stupid and naive. .....
