Goodness pays!!
May 10th, 2008
Goodness is all about being nice, helpful and honest. And believe you me, quite a few of us are all that and more. We do help needy people, obey laws, feel for underprivileged, appreciate good work of others etc etc. In my belief nobody is absolutely good or bad. We are all shades of grey, good most of the time and at times, just maybe not so good. Yes, there are killers, rapists, thieves and other criminals as well. But these guys are very miniscule in number. It is entirely up to us whether we let these few people influence our lives or not. All things considered, I feel our world is full of god fearing good people who feel for others who are underprivileged or maybe in need of some help.
It is in this context that I request you to share with all of us your past experiences wherein you may have helped someone in need or done something for the good of society in general. You will, I’m sure, appreciate that kindness and generosity are infectious in nature. Your telling us will inspire people to emulate your actions. And resultantly all you nice and kindhearted people, will be able to contribute to our respective societies in more ways than one. I will also request you to elaborate on how exactly did you feel afterwards? Was it a sense of satisfaction, elation, or was it just that that you felt nice doing whatever you did? Tell you what, having written this piece, I’m really feeling pretty nice already!

Philanthropy is a virtue which can only be indulged in if you yourself are financially stable and well off. I do try to help with whatever little I can afford to give but I know that it's never enough. Yesterday I gave 50 bucks to a beggar but I know this will only last a day or so. What after that?
