Pa Pa-role: letter from Manu for papa
November 11th, 2009Even as Manu Sharma’s letter to his mom is in public domain his letter to his papa is not. It’s still brewing in his mind but possibly this is what he would like to tell him……..Meri rai mein.
Dear Papa,
I told those guys at F bar as well as at LAP bar “Jannte nahin mera baap kaun hai?” (Meaniing- don’t you know who my pop is?) But I’m sorry to say papa that they didn’t. They didn’t know you at all. What the hell papa? You haven’t yet made a name for yourself? Even though you managed to get Mr Hooda the required votes for his Chief Ministership but still nobody knows you. And what use is such closeness if you can’t use it for your own son? Look at me. Everyone knows me even if it’s only because I’m a killer. But they all know me just the same.
Anyways papa, this is not about me. This is about you. You allowed them to put me in jail for so many months even as people like Sanjay Dutt are roaming around freely. He too is a convict but he’s out whereas I’m in. You managed to dissuade many witnesses but not all because of which I’ve been convicted. Even in jail you did not take care of me. I have to suffer like all the other lowly prisoners and make do without basic requirements like air conditioner, Black Label and tandoori chicken. You got me parole on flimsy grounds but what the hell? You did not stop mamma from attending those functions when she was supposed to be ill. Had she been at home the press could not have photographed her and proved my parole application as false. More importantly, you have not made friends with the Delhi police commissioner Mr Dadwal. Had you been friends with him it is possible that his son would not have called the cops because of which I had to surrender before my parole got over. Not just this you also did not brief Shiela Dixit about what to say when confronted by media about my parole application. What’s the point of having a wealth of 90 odd crores if one of your sons is in jail for just one stupid murder. By the way how did you manage to multiply your wealth from 5 crores to 90 odd crores in just five years? You don’t stop surprising me. Do you papa?
Thankfully papa, the parole application is decided by babus and not by judiciary. Shiela Dixit has said that she generally does what the babus tell her to. And Tejinder Khanna has also said that he does what the Chief Minster tells him to. Well, if that be the case why have these people in the chain at all? If they all do what babus tell them to why can’t just babus only decide? You know it’ll be so much easier for poor convicts like me if we have to only persuade these babus. I dread the day if and when judiciary were to be given this prerogative. And tell you what papa I find it so funny that while Supreme Court did not give me bail for the same charges before I was convicted you managed to get me parole after I was convicted for those very charges. Do you see the irony here? I know that bail and parole are two very different things but the aim was to keep me out of jail and it worked. Thankfully papa they did not notice that I have been subverting the law during the trial stages and was therefore quite likely to do it even during my parole period. What a stupid system it is? And we managed to tweak it to our advantage. Didn’t we? And they didn’t suspect that I would help you out in the elections also. But I did and you won.
They think that people like me can be reformed if we interact with the society during the parole? Me and reformed? You got to be kidding me. How the hell can I be reformed if I have not been taught basic values of life? I may have talked of some values in my letter to mamma but that’s just to keep her in good humor. Don’t take it too seriously. All my life I have been splurged upon and have managed to do whatever I wanted to and now you want me to reform myself? After all these years? No papa. I cannot change. I’ll be what you have made me to be. I do not value other people’s lives or their freedom. It’s my freedom and my life which is important to me. If you are repenting because I’m in jail today you are too late. I’m sorry papa but In a way you are like Dhritrashtra of Mahabharata who fed his own ego through his sons. You should’ve spanked me when I bullied others. You should’ve punished me when I was still growing up. You should’ve slapped me when I first used the words“Jannte nahin mera baap kaun hai?” You should’ve stopped me when I got that gun with which I shot Jessica. You should’ve beaten me up when I made friends with people like Vikas Yadav. Yes papa. You should’ve acted much earlier. And because you did not I have to spend my life in jail for wrongs for which you are also to be blamed. But I’ll do it papa because I love you and I forgive you for what you did not do.
Your ill fated jinxed son
Manu Sharma
No offence meant to anyone except Manu Sharma and his father. If they indeed feel bad about this, well, aim achieved!!!!

Power corrupts. Venod Sharma is a well known legislator and minister who has dotted on his son like crazy. But life itself is a great teacher. What you sow so shall you reap. I hope Manu and people like him have learnt their lesson.
I like that line- JAANTA HAIN MERA BAAP KAUN HAI?

Well, this time too media should get the credit for Manu's come back to the jail, before his parole was over.
