Queen Elizabeth should wear a burqa
November 2nd, 2009Every one has a right to be ridiculous. But some people take this right for granted. Like these chaps called Amjem Choudary and Abu Rumaysah of Islam4UK, a radical Islamic organization based in UK, who have asked Queen Elizabeth to wear a burqa and impose Sharia. Sharia in UK? You got to be kidding me. Not just this they also question the Queen’s right to live in the Buckingham Palace, which they want to rename as Buckingham Masjid and the road leading to it as Masjid road. Well, this is as ridiculous as it can get.
Initially when I read this headline I thought that this was possibly some cleric in middle east who wants the Queen to wear a burqa while she’s touring Muslim countries. Out of curiosity when I read this article I realized to my horror that they wanted her to wear it even while she’s in UK. The worst part is that this group is based in UK only. Pertinent to mention that out of all persons caught in UK for crimes related to terrorism 15% belonged to this group. So you can see where all this is leading to.
Point is that some people just don’t know where they should draw the line. They don’t even realize the repercussions of their words. Such statements can only worsen the gap between Christianity and Islam. Not only this but it also means more ridicule for Muslims staying in UK or those planning to go there. At a time when Islamic leaders staying in UK should be trying to bridge this religious divide people such as these are doing the exact opposite. Such statements also undermine all the other Muslim clerics staying within UK who do not subscribe to these views.
What I would like to ask these guys is: Why did you guys come to UK in the first place? Wasn’t it because it’s more affluent than wherever you came from and you wanted to be a part of it? Or did you only go there to spread Islam, in which case you would not have been allowed to enter at all? Or did you guys lie about your real intentions to the authorities? If your stay in this country is based on lies or desire for part of UK’s wealth all I would tell you guys is that you don’t have the right to preach Sharia only, forget about trying to convert the Queen. You first need to be the change that you want others to be.
Secondly, if you guys believe in Sharia so strongly why don’t you impose it first in all the Muslim countries of the world? If your own Muslim brethren don’t agree with you then why don’t you guys just shut up or even better, go back to wherever you came from. At least that way the other peace loving Muslims living in UK can live in peace. In the meanwhile be thankful to Britain and it’s Queen for not throwing you and your ilk into jail for talking crap. But don’t be too sure of it. It may just change if too many people in UK take exception to it.

I don't see these people staying in UK for long. Forget about bridging gap between religions they can't even bridge the disparities within their own. I guess we can just ignore these crazy fundamentalists. Having said this I would like to add that I don't know how Britishers allowed them to come to UK.

the issue of peaceful religious co-existence is as old as civilization itself. you may be asking for too much here.
but then a person living in any part of the world should have the right to express his views irrespective of people reaction! after all, is that not what global citizenship with freedom of speech means!

Good point! Britain has indeed been a secular country. And then to ask their Queen to wear a burqa is just plain stupid and ridiculous.
