Rajdeep Sardesai is for sale!!!
August 11th, 2008
Yeah!! Thats right. Rajdeep Sardesai is for sale. Either that or he has been told to be sensible or else? Why am I saying so? Did you people see the sting tapes on Cash for Votes scam which were shown on CNN IBN tonight? Well, here is the verdict. The tapes don’t prove a damn thing. Anyone who saw these tapes will agree that Sardesai, who anchored the show left it conveniently open for people from both sides to interpret the tapes in the manner that suited them. One has to grant him this much. He did not swing towards any direction. Why? Because nobody can accuse him of taking sides. He has appeased both the current govt as well as the BJP, although to a lesser extent.
Now, how did I come to this conclusion that Sardesai has blown it up? Following questions will settle your doubts. Just read on.
1. Why did he take so long to telecast this tape? Obviously he was under pressure from both sides and it takes time to change the tapes/ alter the meanings so as to sound neutral.
2. Why did he keep using the words ‘as we saw it’? Why is it so important? Because, nowhere does it emerge clearly that Amar Singh or SP was involved in bribing anyone. What they mean is that they did not see any SP chap giving bribes.
3. This issue is clearly amplified by his reporter as well who answered a direct question from Sardesai that he (the reporter) did not see anyone from SP giving bribes. Quite ridiculous. Isn’t it? If the reporter was involved in the sting he or his crew would’ve surely have seen someone from SP talking about and/or giving bribes? If not, what is this chaos all about?
4. Why was the Zen carrying three MPs to Amar Singh’s house have tinted glasses? Wasn’t it their show and weren’t they organizing the sting operation alongwith CNN IBN? Couldn’t they organize a car with plain glasses, which would’ve clearly shown those three BJP MPs going into Amar Singh’s house? Obviously, either this shot was taken afterwards or it was done on purpose by Sardesai. He knew he had to survive in this big bad world, even when the sting operation was on.
5. Why was it not proved that Sanjeev Saxena, who was seen giving money to these guys, was from SP. Sardesai kept saying that this chap has vanished from the face of this earth but not once did he try to establish this guy’s identity. And that too even after reaching the guys home, which was quite conveniently locked. The neighbors were queried but only for his whereabouts, not for his job or his political connections. Off course nothing was deduced from this questioning.
6. Why did he telecast the tapes on the night when the entire country is celebrating the success of Abhinav Bindra? The tapes belong to him, don’t they? He could’ve delayed this for the time being and aired them when they could’ve caught the nation’s attention. Don’t get me wrong but tomorrow’s papers will only talk about Abhinav Bindra and his Olympic gold medal. His tapes will only be a side issue. Moreover, to substantiate what I just said I would like to add that the show was telecast live, implying that Sardesai saw this as the most opportune time to telecast the damned tapes and get it over with, with least possible damages. After all the mystery generated around the tapes he had to telecast them anyway.
So you see. I have my reasons for saying what I do. Not convinced? Still? Just wait for tomorrow. BJP will call this a grand betrayal of trust and gherao and boycott his channel. Congress and SP will say that nowhere were they seen to be involved. As far as they’re concerned it is end of story. BJP will make this an election issue, for sure.
If you guys feel otherwise you can post your comments and lament me.
