Not so innocent after all

To be frank with you guys I was really taken in by the kind of confidence and faith Shiney’s wife has in her husband. It was a pretty moving sight to see her talk about ‘her man’ and the kind of support she has received from the film fraternity. If her confidence and faith were admissible in court as evidence Shiney would have been a free man by now. But unfortunately for Anupam it’s not. The courts go by physical evidence and sworn statements by witnesses which in this case are all stacked up against her husband.

Let’s first talk about the evidence part. Every news channel has confirmed that the medical examination of the maid has confirmed that there was indeed a sexual assault on her and there were injury marks on her body. Well, all of them can’t possibly be wrong. Can they be? And if they are not then one thing is for sure that she was raped by someone. The question is who? And in all likelihood it’s Shiney because first he was alone with her at the time and second that he too has bruises on his forehead. Apart from this I will not really go into the circumstantial evidence because that is not really into public domain as yet.

Now, let’s talk of the statements that have been made in this case. Apart from the statement of the victim there have been numerous reports of Shiney having admitted to this whole thing. Again, the entire news media has been quite categorical about their sources having confirmed that Shiney has indeed said that he had sex with her, just that that it was consensual, if you believe him. And again, all the news channels can’t possibly be wrong.

Now here’s what I think happened. Firstly I partly agree with Anupam that Shiney is not a rapist, not a conventional rapist at least. I don’t think it was a case of Shiney attacking the maid just because she was alone in the house with him. To me it seems that both Shiney and the maid had a liking for each other and they must have engaged in ‘innocent’ romance on the sly in the past few days. On this particular day, when they were alone they must have started doing some coochie coo which the maid was pretty happy with. Quite possibly, Shiney took it as her being ‘game’ he must’ve tried to go further. But may be the maid did not want to go the whole hog. She was quite happy to just coochie coo with a movie star. Unfortunately for her, Shiney couldn’t control himself and forced himself on her, which she may not have resisted in a manner she should have. Afterward when she reached home she may have realized the enormity of the whole thing which may result in her becoming pregnant. And that’s when she decided to shift the blame entirely on Shiney and confided in her family members, who in turn went to the police with her and filed a case of rape. It is also possible that they spoke to Shiney about some money which he may have refused, may be because it was too large or may be he thought that these guys were too poor to fight a case against him. Unfortunately for him, they did.

Yeah, that’s what I think happened. All indications are that this is more or less the whole truth. And if this is the truth, then Shiney is indeed guilty. Whether they had a liking for each other or whether the maid was game for coochie coo or not does not amount to consensual sex. That’s the bottomline. And if Shiney is guilty he should be punished like any other rapist. Period. Now I know that I’m indulging in lot of speculation here but I thought I’ll speak what I felt about the whole thing. No offence meant to Shiney or his wife, even though I know I’m implicating him.
