There is nothing against the law in America which prohibits anyone from building a mosque or an Islamic center, if you please, anywhere in America. That’s a known fact. But that’s just the law. There is much more to it than just the law. There was a 9/11 attack in which nearly 3000 Americans died and it cannot be just wished away. To say that an Islamic Center close to the site of attack will help in bridging gaps between the two communities is just too far off from the practical realities on ground.

Americans, on their part have been very cagey about Headley from the very beginning when in August this year reports first started coming in of his arrest. They initially linked him only to a plot to kill a Danish cartoonist. Later on there were reports of Headley’s links to LeT. Later still, they said that he was an agent of DEA (US agency which fights the drug menace) but now it has become amply clear that not only was he involved in planning and execution of 26/11 attacks he was also on the payroll of CIA. Another very important reason why I’m getting increasingly convinced about US knowing much more about 26/11 than what they told us is the fact that our team which went to US to meet Headley in connection with his involvement in 26/11 attacks was not allowed to do so even as he was being charged for the same offence which was committed here in India. If this is not bizarre I really wonder what is?

When 9/11 happened America converted this crisis into an opportunity. They ensured that another 9/11 does not happen again on their territory and they have succeeded. They did not let 9/11 just become history before they dealt with their present. Can we, as Indians let 26/11 just become history without dealing with our present? The question is for all Indians to answer for. And I’m not talking about candle light vigils or some such stuff here.

At last Baitullah Mehsud, the top Taliban commander in Pakistan has died, of all natural causes. The man commanded more than 20,000 militants from across the region. This was a man who once proclaimed to the world that “there would be no peace without jihad” and US and UK were his prime targets. [...]

It is, if you believe Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. I agree he’s no fortune teller or an astrologer for that matter. He cannot actually see the future. In all probability he was just kind of praying loudly. Or was he? What if he can actually sense the moment? What if he can read [...]

Its seven years since that horrific tragedy struck the US. And seven years is a pretty long time. In fact the world has undergone many changes ever since that fateful day. The Taliban have been forced out of power in Afghanistan, Iraq is a lot safer, quite a few terrorist strikes have taken place around [...]

Okay, of all the TV networks which one was the best debate on match fixing? Well, for me it was the one on Times Now where our dear old Bishen Singh Bedi appeared half drunk. At first it seemed like I was mistaken but when he started talking I was more than convinced that he was indeed three or four drinks down, at least. A couple of drinks more and I'm sure Bedi would've told Arnab Goswami," Oye, Chadd Yaar. Tainu Kee? Aye koi nai gall thodi hai. Salon se ho raya hega. CHEERS!!" or words to that effect. But you can't really blame Bedi for this. What do you expect people to be doing at nine in the evening? Good people work through the day and party in the evenings. Don't they? For that matter, Farouq Engineer who was speaking from Manchester, UK where it was around four thirty in the evening, was seen having a huge cup of coffee (or at least that's my guess) because you are supposed to have coffee at that time......
