Whether the promise of work by Madhur Bhandarkar impinged upon the freedom/willingness to have sex on the part of Preeti Jain is a question which needs to be answered. Another question which she needs to answer is whether she liked what she did with him or not? In other words whether she enjoyed the whole activity or not? I know I’m being very crass here but these are relevant questions. And I’m pretty sure she would not have done it sixteen times with him if she did not like it. Fact is that all this technical stuff is rather misleading. It can confuse the hell out of not just us but judges, lawyers and linguistic experts as well. What is in fact not confusing is the fact that she was just ‘using’ her body to get work in return.

Firstly, the judges of Supreme Court are already declaring their assets to CJI. The judges of High Court can also do the same. If the CJI is satisfied with this arrangement, asking for these details to be available to public in general is like saying that CJI is not doing his job. Also, what do you do after getting the details? Should a judge be answering everyone how he has got the wealth that he has declared? Imagine a judge inquiring into allegations of disproportionate wealth case of a bureaucrat. In the course of the proceedings, what if the litigant asks the judge, ‘how did you obtain your wealth, before asking me to explain my riches?’

Truth is harsh and it’s blunt. Sometimes it hits you so badly right in your face that you are left wondering whether it is worth facing it or not. Quite obviously for some people it is worth it especially if it means making good money.

Rakhi Sawant has chosen Elesh Parujanwala from among the last three to be her life partner. Finally, the suspense is over. But guess what? She did not marry him as she was supposed to yesterday. Instead it was just an engagement ceremony after she chose Elesh. Why did she develop cold feet at the last moment?

On the face of it the statement seems genuine though according to the police there are a few variations but they are rather minor ones. The most important thing about his statement is not what he said but what he did not say and that is that Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi does not find a mention even once in his entire confession. Now according to Indian authorities Lakhvi is supposed to be the chief operational commander of LeT who plotted this attack along with Hafiz Saeed. To be candid with you guys I find it rather hard to believe that Lakhvi was indeed the main plotter of this attack but never met these attackers in person.

Most of you guys would have been shocked yesterday to hear the news of Sarabjit’s petition being turned down by Pakistan’s Supreme Court. Well, don’t be, because after this now there is only one person in Pakistan who has the authority to over rule the Supreme Court’s verdict. His name is Asif Ali Zardari. And that, my dear friends, is the whole game plan.

I really loved this one. Husbands should obey their wives, that’s what Supreme Court of India says. They might as well have made this the law. Something like- obey traffic rules. That would have really energized the entire lot of married women of the country. In fact there is a lesson here for the political parties of the country. If they make this a law they’ll at least get 35-40% of the voters on their side which will be enough for them to enable them to form a govt conveniently (Congress formed a govt with much less % of votes). And Joru ka ghulam would not be so demeaning then.

First thing that strikes us about the current feud is that it’s now personal, for both of them. And that’s because Mayawati made it personal by canceling a project in Rae Bareilly and Sonia has taken it personally as we all saw yesterday.

With elections in five states round the corner the swords are being drawn now. The first assault in the run up to these elections has been delivered by Mayawati, and on Sonia and quite directly at that.

Maharashtra is ahead of our times it seems. Or may be the rest of us are still living in the dark ages. And that’s because we still feel that living in is not exactly the right thing to do. Making it legal will only encourage people to indulge in it. And we can all blame Maharashtra for this.

I really wonder on what grounds are Lalus and Mulayams protesting against the Women's Bill. Their argument, is unconvincing and shaky. Even ideally, if for a moment, we think that poor Dalit women were to be indeed elected I'd damned if our highest governing bodies were to be made up of women who are absolutely illiterate and work as maids or do some such menial jobs. I really do not have anything against them but they do not have the aptitude or ability for this job, not as of now at least. As for my maid, I'm thankful to God if she completes my household chores satisfactorily, leave aside managing the country. .....
