I cannot but help sympathize with the people of West Bengal. They are stuck between the devil and the deep sea, with CPM being the deep sea. Whenever Mamata comes to power I’m dead sure that she will not allow any security operations against Maoists to take place in West Bengal implying that whenever operations against them are launched from other states the Maoists will seek refuge in this state. And that can mean only one thing for India in general and West Bengal in particular- DANGER. And that’s the reason why I call CPM the deep sea and Mamata the devil. Another implication of this very foreseeable future is that full scale operations against Maoists need to start right now and that too from the direction of West Bengal to wipe out each and every member and sympathizer of Maoists in this state before the assembly polls are held there.

Let there be no doubt that as things stand today Congress is way out of their comfort zone where they were quite comfortably ensconced after the elections in May 09 when they cruised to victory and all kinds of myriad parties ranging from SP to RJD to even BSP fell head over heals over each other to extend support to them. Every Tom, Dick and Harry said that with this kind of support UPA II is going to sail through in their next term. They said that with the left parties off their back they could now go full steam ahead with economic reforms and BLAH BLAH BLAH. Well, since then things have indeed turned on it’s head or so it seems and we are now reaching the stage where the drift is quite palpable.

Red is fast getting out of fashion. If you don’t believe me ask CPM or whatever is LEFT of it. The writing on the wall of Writer’s Building is rather clear and unambiguous. Left has to go in 2011. If you believe Mamata Bannerjee “It is bhictary for the peepul, by the peepul and for the peepul”. Yeah, it was all that and more. But I was kind of hoping Mamata would use some different words. Anyways, this bhictary has once again reinforced our belief that Left has indeed failed both, the state as well as it’s peepul.

When I read about the Bhubaneshwar- Delhi Rajdhani blockade by Maoists recently I found the whole thing to be quite sinister. It did not make any sense. I mean they stopped the train for over five hours, threatened passengers and drivers and then just let them go in the end, for nothing? What was going on? Some newspapers say that they wanted to demonstrate what they can do but I don’t believe it because we already know what they are capable of. It was much later that things started becoming clearer. And it does all add up and it makes perfect sense, for Maoists.

Will this tie up work? Will they be able to dislodge CPM from it’s mantle? Unlikely, if you ask me. Why do I say this? Well, it’s quite simple actually. The tie up will not last only and only because of the mercurial nature of Ms Mamata Bannerjee.

Out of hundreds of allegations of fake encounter deaths why is the focus of our entire nation on Sohrabuddin and Amit Shah? Is it because a fake encounter of a Muslim is a different story than that of a Hindu? And that too because it happened in Narendra Modi's Gujarat? Why is the CBI investigating only this case and not so many others where the guilty are quite likely from the Congress party? What about numerous allegations of fake encounters in Andhra Pradesh? What about the prosecution of Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar in Sikh riots case? What about Ottavio Quattrochi?.....
