How many times in a life does it happen that your Prime Minister has wasted your time? I don’t know about you but it happened with me today. He wasted two good hours of my day when I could’ve done something more worthwhile like washing my dishes. At least that way something meaningful would’ve been achieved. If you find that statement too blunt and demeaning try answering this one. Why does anyone hold a press conference? More importantly, why does a Prime Minister of a country hold a press conference? Is it to commemorate an occasion like completion of one year in office? Or is it to answer questions from the media on important issues, which are numerous, at the last count? Or is it done to make an announcement? Or worse, is it just to play safe? Unfortunately, Dr Manmohan Singh did the last. He only played safe. Neither did he commemorate his last one year in office because there is hardly anything to commemorate. Nor did he give a satisfactory answer to any question and he most definitely did not make an announcement unless being a fairly satisfied man is counted as one.

You must’ve read about the arrest of two CRPF jawans in UP for selling ammunition to Naxals recently. They say that they’ve arrested these two alongwith four others which includes one retd sub inspector also. Frankly, the way the authorities are going about this it seems that either this is a big cover up to shield some officials or they don’t know what the hell is going on. I’d like to believe the former. Read on and you’ll see what I mean.

I was so horribly wrong when I wrote this post on Cash for Votes scam in our parliament and the sting operation conducted by CNN IBN Rajdeep Sardesai is for sale!! in Nov 08. Its not just him who is up for sale most of the news channels and newspapers are up for sale too. Rajdeep Sardesai did nothing which is not done by the media houses. And I’m not talking about a stake sale in their respective companies. I’m talking about the news content which they carry. Yes, it has been proved beyond doubt now that indeed they do sell their space for money. As luck would have it there were quite a few elections in 2009. First it was the Lok Sabha polls and then state assembly elections in not one but four states. Not too forget many other sources like numerous movie releases, book launches etc etc. And they are all sources of good unaccountable money for our media houses.

Yeah, that’s right. Danny Boyle himself said in an interview with Times of India that Slumdog Millionaire is a British film. It’s in today’s newspaper under the title ‘It’s a British film, really’ by Meena Iyer of Times News Network. Significantly, when I tried to search for this article on their website I did not find it.

Why are we all getting carried away with Slumdog Millionaire? For a moment just forget about these awards and tell me if you guys even knew about this movie before it was flashed around as a winner? What’s so great about this that the entire country has gone bonkers over it? Why is every news channel and every newspaper touting this as an Indian victory because it’s most definitely not?

How stupid can a women be? And we are talking about a well educated govt servant and an Assistant Attorney General to boot! Did she really expect Chander Mohan or Chand Mohammad to give up his high profile job, snap all ties with his super rich family and lead a life of penury with her? If she did she must have been living in a fool’s paradise, which, I’m sure she has realized by now.

The logo over here may be of Times now but whatever I’m going to say applies to all the news channels, both English as well as Hindi. They all need to get their priorities right in the first place. They need to stop sensationalizing every issue. Sure sensationalism sells but if only money was their sole aim they’d be better off doing something more productive than this.

Nobody gives people from north east any bhav. Nobody takes them seriously. They are just ‘chinkis’ who are supposed to be made fun of and dismissed as if they were some paltu animal. Even their women are considered to be chaalu and easy meat for most of the guys. I’m dead sure most of us will not know even the names and capitals of all these states.

Maybe even put inside the jail. This man has gone overboard. It seems that Maharashtra belongs to him and his stupid party. How can anyone dare do this to us? Are the people from other states who are residing in Maharashtra not Indians? Has Article 370 been imposed in the state or what? It seems that Vilasrao Deshmukh is scared of this man.

TOP POST

Okay, of all the TV networks which one was the best debate on match fixing? Well, for me it was the one on Times Now where our dear old Bishen Singh Bedi appeared half drunk. At first it seemed like I was mistaken but when he started talking I was more than convinced that he was indeed three or four drinks down, at least. A couple of drinks more and I'm sure Bedi would've told Arnab Goswami," Oye, Chadd Yaar. Tainu Kee? Aye koi nai gall thodi hai. Salon se ho raya hega. CHEERS!!" or words to that effect. But you can't really blame Bedi for this. What do you expect people to be doing at nine in the evening? Good people work through the day and party in the evenings. Don't they? For that matter, Farouq Engineer who was speaking from Manchester, UK where it was around four thirty in the evening, was seen having a huge cup of coffee (or at least that's my guess) because you are supposed to have coffee at that time......
