RJD and SP have withdrawn support and their Rajya Sabha MPs have openly said that they will do anything implying physical disruption to stop the bill from being passed. After initial hesitation JD(U) has come around to supporting it thanks to Nitish Kumar. While there is no doubt that Lalu and Mulayam Singh do have a right to protest and they may have some logic in their argument as well but frankly speaking, their protests have very little to do with logic or their good wishes for women of Muslim community or Dalits for that matter, whose cause they seem to be espousing.

What we saw yesterday in Delhi was display of democracy at its worst. First the govt comes out with a ridiculous ordinance which is against sugarcane farmers and pro mill owners. Then the opposition gets together to organize a farmer’s protest wherein the entire city is held to ransom and monuments vandalized while the police just looks on. The parliament too is not allowed to start its session by the opposition and then by evening the govt bows to the demands and says that they will do what’s best for the farmers. Is this the way a democracy supposed to function? Well, If this is indeed democracy I don’t want it. Give me communism for all I care but not this. Here are some naked truths which led to this sorry episode.

Some people like Rahul Gandhi matured pretty early in life. Some people like Bakhtiyar Irani and Rahul Mahajan of Bigg Boss fame promise that they never will and yet there are some others like Akhilesh Yadav of SP who threaten to mature but do exactly the opposite. When SP lost miserably in by elections of UP it was maturity on his part to have accepted the verdict but he went absolutely bonkers when he took it so personally and went ahead and challenged Rahul Gandhi for the next battle in UP. And it helps him score brownie points with her too who must be feeling dejected after this loss. Though theoretically speaking there is one more possibility. Dimple Yadav may have told Akhilesh to take on Rahul Gandhi in a direct one to one challenge. Quite possible, theoretically at least.

Godhra will not die down. Our politicians will not let it to. Because every time they rake this issue up they whip up public sentiment. And that is exactly the reason why Nanawati has only forwarded Part I of the report which deals with the Godhra train carnage only. The rest of the report [...]

Yeah, he’s the target again. It was bound to happen. In fact it was only a matter of time before the govt acted against him, again. Not very long ago we had a Congress spokesperson saying that Amitabh and his family be left alone. But that was then. it’s not the same any [...]

Yeah!! Thats right. Rajdeep Sardesai is for sale. Either that or he has been told to be sensible or else? Why am I saying so? Did you people see the sting tapes on Cash for Votes scam which were shown on CNN IBN tonight? Well, here is the verdict. The tapes don’t prove a damn thing. Anyone who saw these tapes will agree that Sardesai, who anchored the show left it conveniently open for people from both sides to interpret the tapes in the manner that suited them. One has to grant him this much. He did not swing towards any direction. Why?

Okay, of all the TV networks which one was the best debate on match fixing? Well, for me it was the one on Times Now where our dear old Bishen Singh Bedi appeared half drunk. At first it seemed like I was mistaken but when he started talking I was more than convinced that he was indeed three or four drinks down, at least. A couple of drinks more and I'm sure Bedi would've told Arnab Goswami," Oye, Chadd Yaar. Tainu Kee? Aye koi nai gall thodi hai. Salon se ho raya hega. CHEERS!!" or words to that effect. But you can't really blame Bedi for this. What do you expect people to be doing at nine in the evening? Good people work through the day and party in the evenings. Don't they? For that matter, Farouq Engineer who was speaking from Manchester, UK where it was around four thirty in the evening, was seen having a huge cup of coffee (or at least that's my guess) because you are supposed to have coffee at that time......
