My in laws who stay in Gurgaon say that Congress did nothing for them. The roads and power situation is so bad that it is impossible for people to live decently in the city because of which I really think ten times before I decide to go visit my in laws. Not surprisingly the sitting MLA from Congress Dharambir Guaba lost in this election. Incidentally, he lives just a stone’s throw away from our house. While we have seen his house develop from a decrepit

Mumbai is surely a city of superstitious people. And they consider 13 as an unlucky number, quite religiously (pun intended). Otherwise how can anyone explain the dismal 45% voting in the city which has nearly 70 lakh registered voters? I mean we are talking about a city which witnessed the bloodiest terrorist attack in the history of this country but still does not care about who comes to power in the state. Quite ironic if not ridiculous. It’s ironic because I remember watching lakhs of Mumbaikars protesting against the failure of the govt to prevent these attacks but when it came to making a choice they backed out, rather meekly I’d say. Or may be it was just that that they are too superstitious about number 13, holiday or no holiday.

This is an election which actually does not have any major issue on which the electorate may vote for. It’s just been left to each his own, choice that is. But unfortunately, the real issues have actually got sidelined.

Politicians will always be politicians. They can do anything to remain relevant to the current situation. Like our long lost ex Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mr Kalyan Singh. He has done what many would’ve said was unthinkable just a year or so ago. From a predominantly Hindu nationalist party (the BJP) he has done an absolute about turn and has joined a party which has Muslims as it’s most important support base (the Samajwadi Party). Not only this the good man has gone ahead and apologized to the Muslim community for demolition of Babri Masjid (he was the CM of UP when it happened). And now all of us including the Muslims are supposed to

Some of our politicians have provoked these incidents. Others have fueled fire in them and there some others like Vilasrao Deshmukh who have done their bit by just keeping quiet when they were supposed to speak up. I mean when things were so bad in Maharashtra Vilasrao Deshmukh was just a mute spectator from his hometown in Latur.

Nobody gives people from north east any bhav. Nobody takes them seriously. They are just ‘chinkis’ who are supposed to be made fun of and dismissed as if they were some paltu animal. Even their women are considered to be chaalu and easy meat for most of the guys. I’m dead sure most of us will not know even the names and capitals of all these states.

Yeah, the economy has to be the number 1 issue in these elections. At a time like this nothing else matters. Women power, McCain’s age, Obama’s inexperience on national security or anything else for that matter, for any voter nothing except the economy should be the deciding factor. Anybody voting for any other reason will [...]

Out of hundreds of allegations of fake encounter deaths why is the focus of our entire nation on Sohrabuddin and Amit Shah? Is it because a fake encounter of a Muslim is a different story than that of a Hindu? And that too because it happened in Narendra Modi's Gujarat? Why is the CBI investigating only this case and not so many others where the guilty are quite likely from the Congress party? What about numerous allegations of fake encounters in Andhra Pradesh? What about the prosecution of Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar in Sikh riots case? What about Ottavio Quattrochi?.....
