What is your virginity worth?
January 23rd, 20093.8 million dollars, if you are keen. What the hell has our world come to! What kind of parents allow their daughters to do something like this? The story goes something like this. This young girl, supposedly Natalie Dylan from California, USA, is ready to sell her virginity online. She has received many bids but the highest one is that of an Australian who is ready to pay her 3.8 million dollars for it. And it’s not over yet. The bidding is still on.
When asked about this, she said “I feel people should be pro-choice with their body, and I’m not hurting anyone. It really comes down to a moral and religious argument, and this doesn’t go against my religion or my morals. There’s no right or wrong to this.”
There’s no right or wrong to this? What utter crap? It’s wrong. Horribly wrong. In my opinion her body is God’s gift to her. Her auctioning it off like this is akin to selling a gift from God. Is that correct? Not in my opinion. You might say that her body belongs to her and she’s entitled to do whatever she wants to do with it. Well, if that be the case we might as well forget the instituition of marriage and love. Women might as well start doing this for a living.
And has she thought about a life partner? Actually, she has. She says “I would always want to find a partner that can accept me for me.” Accept me for me meaning accept a prostitute for a wife. High hopes. Even if she does find a partner who is ready to marry her (possibly for money) what kind of relationship will she have with him? Will it be based on trust or love? Quiet honestly, I don’t think so. It’ll be ‘marriage of convenience’ wherein this will be nothing but an arrangement for her to appear married. Not just this. What about her kids? What will they think of her when they grow up? What kind of respect will they have for her? In all probability they will hate her for this, for life that is. Is she prepared for all this? I really wonder.
I guess money is more important for her than mundane things like love, marriage, kids and respect. What a shame! What has our world come to?
