From what we have seen so far in the Headley-Rana case it is a foregone conclusion that out of these two Headley was a rogue agent who worked for US as well as LeT. The second revelation is that he was a plotter in 26/11 Mumbai attacks and he has been charged for the same by US authorities. The next question which comes to mind is if Headley was working for US as well did he give them information about LeT’s plan to attack Mumbai? This question is important since US did give India a ‘feeble and routine’ warning about a threat from the sea for an attack on Mumbai. Where did that information come from? Yes, like on many other occasions our intelligence agencies screwed up on this input too but the fact is that these kind of inputs are received every day in multitudes. What I’m talking about is a concrete warning from US intelligence agencies based on specific information provided by Headley which may have helped us in preventing this massacre.

Americans, on their part have been very cagey about Headley from the very beginning when in August this year reports first started coming in of his arrest. They initially linked him only to a plot to kill a Danish cartoonist. Later on there were reports of Headley’s links to LeT. Later still, they said that he was an agent of DEA (US agency which fights the drug menace) but now it has become amply clear that not only was he involved in planning and execution of 26/11 attacks he was also on the payroll of CIA. Another very important reason why I’m getting increasingly convinced about US knowing much more about 26/11 than what they told us is the fact that our team which went to US to meet Headley in connection with his involvement in 26/11 attacks was not allowed to do so even as he was being charged for the same offence which was committed here in India. If this is not bizarre I really wonder what is?

But everything falls into place if you consider that Headley was an agent of CIA and had told them about the impending attacks in Mumbai. They would not let anyone touch him if he was their man. Also, that’s exactly the reason why the extent of his complicity in 26/11 attacks is coming out in bits and pieces because it is not the Americans but Indian agencies who are now investigating this case here in India and who are now uncovering all these intricate details of where he went and where he stayed and whom he met with etc etc. Ideally, all this information should have come to us from US who has been interrogating Headley but this is clearly not the case. Lastly, a small little detail which is quite baffling is that US authorities say that they had been tracking Headley for a pretty long time since he was on their suspect list. Well, if they were tracking him why the hell didn’t they tell us that Headley was coming to India which he did on several occasions? Crazy, to say the very least. The next logical question that arises is if Headley was indeed a US agent why did they arrest this man in the first place? The answer to that question is rather logical and simple enough.

You see, Indian intelligence agencies had tipped off US authorities about a suspect related to terrorist activities in Bangladesh and here in India. It so happened that this man was Headley. He was arrested just after this happened. And this was because the Americans knew that India was on this guy’s trail. Better put him in the clink in US than Indians getting him which would expose his association with US authorities. That would have been catastrophic. In any case Headley had gone rogue and had outlived his utility to the Americans. That brings us to the next question- Why didn’t they tell us about Headley and his plans for attack on Mumbai?

Well, that’s because they thought that if they do tell us LeT would come to know too and Headley’s cover would be blown. And they would loose their mole. Well, it was all about saving their man and their agent which they considered was more important than hundreds of innocent lives which were eventually lost in Mumbai attacks. According to them saving their mole was more important than even lives of handful of Americans and Jews who too died in these attacks. I really wonder what Israel and American people themselves have to say to that revelation. I also wonder what Americans would’ve felt had Indians did something similar to them. Something like knowing about 9/11 before it happened and not telling them. Possibly they would have called it a betrayal of trust or some crap like that.

And then they have the cheek to talk about India being their natural allies or strategic partners or some such stupid paraphrase which has no meaning whatsoever when it comes to ground realities. In the end it is always like what’s good for them and their own interests alone. The rest don’t matter. They don’t exist and in case they do they ought to know that Americans will never do what is correct for lesser mortals. Instead, they will only do what they feel is correct for themselves. And if this is the change that Obama believed in, give me George W Bush. At least he didn’t pretend to be otherwise. You may say that 26/11 happened when Bush was in chair but he is not there anymore but the US is still playing their games which they are so good at. If they had the spunks they should have come clean on this issue but you and I know better than that. They won’t. Ever.
